Dan Harmon

Dan Harmon (born January 3, 1973) is an American writer and performer. He is the creator and former executive producer for the NBC television comedy series Community, and, along with Rob Schrab, a founder of the alternative television network/website Channel 101.

He is credited for writing part of Rob Schrab’s comic book series Scud: The Disposable Assassin, as well the spin-off comic series La Cosa Nostroid.
In July 2009, Harmon was nominated in two Emmy categories for his part in writing the Oscar telecast: Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, the latter of which he was awarded for “Hugh Jackman Opening Number” at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.

On May 18, 2012, it was announced that Harmon would no longer be the showrunner and executive producer of Community, but would remain on the show as a consultant.   NBC head Bob Greenblatt told the Hollywood Reporter, “I except  Dan’s voice to be a part of this show somehow. I’m just not sure if that means him running it day-to-day or consulting on it.”  Dan Harmon responded on his Tumblr blog, “That’s a misquote. I think he meant to say he’s sure cookies are yummy, because he’s never called me once in the entire duration of his employment at NBC.” Continuing, Harmon indicated that beyond a contractually required position as “executive consulting something or other”, he would no longer be involved in the creation of the show.

For its fall 2012 season, Adult Swim has ordered a 30-minute animated pilot from Harmon and Justin Roiland. The pilot, Rick & Morty, is about the life journeys of a genius inventor and his less-than-genius grandson. The show was recently picked up and will premiere in late 2013.

Leon Jackson

Leon Jackson (born 30 December 1988) is a Scottish singer. He won the fourth series of British talent show The X Factor in 2007. Following his win, Jackson was the main star of his on-web series entitled Leon’s Life, which ran from 2007 until 2008.  Jackson’s début album, Right Now (2008) finished the year as the 75th best-selling album in the UK, and included the singles, “Don’t Call This Love”, “Creative” and “Stargazing”. Jackson’s début single, “When You Believe”, a cover of a song sung by Whitney Houston and composed and written by Stephen Schwartz, was the 92nd best-selling single of the 2000s in the UK, and was the third best-selling of 2007. Jackson had the best selling single from a British Male Artist in 2007  beating the likes of Mika, Take That and Mark Ronson in the best-selling male category, and being beaten by Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” to the number one and number two positions, respectively. Jackson then announced a summer tour in 2010 where he would perform his new acoustic sound. The first date was at the Half Moon, Putney, London on 8 June. Leon performed guitar and piano-led songs.  The second date was at the ABC Glasgow on 10 July, where he sold out the show and more tickets were put on sale due to popular demand.  The final date of the tour was on 31 July at the O2 Academy Birmingham, where Jackson again performed new songs written by himself and American songwriters. On 16 February 2011, Jackson attended the 2011 BRIT Awards as part of the Universal Records after-party.  Jackson has been writing new material and taught himself to play the guitar and piano, which he has brought into his new songs. Some of the new songs include ‘Never Left The Ground’, ‘Ode to Isabel’, ‘The Other Side’, ‘See It Through Your Eyes’ and ‘Wounded by Love’.  Jackson will debut at least four new songs at several summer festivals in 2011.  The 2011 Scottish New Music Awards were held on 4 September 2011. LaToya Renee London

LaToya Renee London (born on December 29, 1978) is an American R&B and soul singer and actress who was the fourth-place finalist on the third season of the reality/talent-search television series American Idol. She released her debut album, Love & Life, in September 2005 and recently completed a starring role as Nettie in the national tour of the Broadway musical The Color Purple.

London was central to one of the first controversies of the show. On April 21, 2004, the night after the final seven contestants performed Barry Manilow songs, London, Jennifer Hudson, and eventual winner Fantasia Barrino shockingly ended up in the bottom three with the least viewer votes. Together, these three had been dubbed “The Three Divas” for their lush, commanding, and mature vocal capabilities and showstopping and critically acclaimed performances. London had the highest vote totals out of the three, and Hudson was ultimately eliminated. Because all three of the singers were African American and the frontrunners of the competition, music icon Elton John deemed the voting as “racist,” igniting a flurry of news and speculation over the validity of the voting system. John complained at a promotional news conference that, “The three people I was really impressed with, and they just happened to be black, young female singers, and they all seem to be landing in the bottom three.”

London’s second controversy occurred on May 11, 2004, when the final four contestants each performed two disco songs. Simon Cowell, who previously endorsed her as the best singer in the competition, suggested that his only complaint with London was that after ten weeks he still did not know anything at all about her.

Cowell also suggested that contestant Jasmine Trias would almost certainly be voted off the next day. However, on May 12, in a result that came as a surprise to many, including the judges, London became the ninth of the 12 finalists to be eliminated, finishing in fourth place, with Barrino also landing in the bottom two. Paula Abdul was in tears when LaToya sang her farewell song, “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” and the other two judges gave her a standing ovation.
